This screen displays each open lot or position for a given security. A position remains open until you sell or buy to cover your asset.
Action - displays transaction class: Buy = buy; Short = short sell.
Quantity -
For stocks & mutual funds = total number of shares per lot.
For options = number of contracts time 100 (some options use a multiplier of 500).
For bonds and brokered CDs = total face amount per lot.
For regular CDs = 1.
Precious metals = total number of identical units per lot.
If you close an entire open position, Quantity remaining will be zero so you can see which lot was closed. If you prefer to remove this entry, use Delete.
Open Price - is the per unit purchase price of a given lot.
For cash = 1.
For regular CD = the total price you paid.
For Options & Futures = the price per contract.
Note: The total for the "Open Price" is really the average price of all transactions (including commissions) and it is also displayed on "individual portfolios" under "average price".
Commission - enter total commission. Include all miscellaneous transaction charges.
Current Value - is the market value of each asset by lot.
Unrealized Gain/Loss - is the difference between Current Value and the product of Quantity and Open Price.
Show Closed - click to display Closed Transactions.
Edit - click selected transaction and then click Edit.
Buy - click to add to position in selected asset.
Sell - select the lot you wish to sell or buy to cover in part or in whole, then click Sell to access Sell Assets or Buy To Cover.
Delete - use to delete selected lot. Select lot you wish to remove. Click Delete to activate.
Report Card - Click on this icon to open the Report Card for the security whose Open Transactions you are viewing. This is the same report card of information that is displayed in the Research database.
